Experiments in Ayurveda - Moderation
My Ayurvedic Experiments: Small Changes, Big Impact
The Power of Moderation
A fir bit ago, I crafted what I thought was a solid health routine:
Bedtime: 9 PM
Wake-up: 4 AM
Morning routine: Cold/lukewarm shower, brushing, 45–60 min of exercise, 10 min of meditation, then breakfast and work
I was exercising daily and felt physically fit, yet I was constantly exhausted in the evenings. Every few days, I’d crash—feeling sleepy all day and needing 10 hours of rest to recover. The dark circles under my eyes were deepening, even though I was sleeping a solid 7 hours most nights. I was eating well (mostly home-cooked meals, nothing extreme), so why was I so drained?
That’s when I decided to experiment with the Ayurvedic principle of moderation—balancing food, activity, and rest.
Here’s what I changed:
Instead of forcing myself awake at 4 AM, I let my body wake up naturally around 5 AM.
I switched to a warm (but not hot) shower, adding tongue scraping and oil pulling.
I drank a glass of warm water first thing in the morning.
I cut my workout time to 30 minutes on weekdays (keeping it at 1 hour on weekends).
I increased meditation to 20 minutes for more grounding/relaxation.
The results? Within 3–4 weeks, I no longer felt wiped out in the evenings. After about two months, my dark circles improved, and I felt more balanced and efficient in my daily work. Sure, an hour of exercise would give me more muscle tone, but my overall well-being improved dramatically with this shift.
Health Shouldn’t Feel Like a Punishment
Being healthy doesn’t have to mean rigid, exhausting routines. Yes, discipline is necessary, but the right habits will feel so rewarding that you’ll want to return to them—not force yourself into them.
I invite you to explore Ayurveda and discover the small, blissful changes that can transform your well-being.
Simple Health Exercise:
For the next week, simply observe your daily routines:
✅ Do you go to bed and wake up at the same time each day?
(Ideal: Sleep before 10 PM, wake before 6 AM)
✅ Do you eat meals at roughly the same times daily?
If yes, you’re already applying some powerful Ayurvedic health principles—congratulations! 🎉 If not, could you make a small adjustment and see how it feels?
Try it out, and let me know how it goes!
